    【Local Narratives and Artistic Performances】

    Interdisciplinary Micro-Program

    【Mission】

    To enhance and deepen students' artistic and humanistic cultivation, the "Local Narratives and Art Performances" micro-course aims to inspire students' interest in local culture and art. It combines the expertise of art faculty with the rich humanistic and artistic resources of the locality from multiple perspectives. This allows students to gain an in-depth understanding of the creative backgrounds of local artists and the rich connotations of local narratives. Utilizing a multifaceted approach and leveraging STEAM learning, the course deepens the understanding of local narratives and art performances through guided tours and performance activities.

    【Course Planning】

    Students must complete at least one course in each of the three domains—"Foundational Interdisciplinary Studies," "Thematic Issues," and "Practical Orientation"—within the chosen micro-course program, totaling at least four courses. Furthermore, they must achieve passing grades in these courses to qualify for the issuance of the program certification.

    Foundational Interdisciplinary Studies

    Arts Appreciation and Creation (M Group) PERFORMING ARTS AND PRATICE 'Performing Arts' is an umbrella term, which contains wide definitions. This module could be divided into two sections: Euro-American contemporary theatre and Asian theatre. Images, videos, play texts and theatrical exercises will be applied as materials to introduce intercultural performing arts to the students. In addition to introducing various performing forms, the students will also be asked to conduct a theatre piece in order to further understand the making of theatrical works.
    Foundational Interdisciplinary Studies Arts Appreciation and Creation (M Group) THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN MUSIC AND ART This course will introduce the basic elements, structure, and styles of music and arts. With in-depth listening and analysis, students will learn how to appreciate great works of music and arts. They will be able to connect feelings between various forms of arts.

    Department of Architecture THEORY OF DESIGN This course is designed to overtake the space acknowledgement of visual orientation in the process of Design, and make responses under different changes of new circumstances. Using our body as the base experience the real environment, face the challenges form different topics and practice the dialectical ability of Design to affect the reality.

    Arts Appreciation and Creation (M Group) PERFORMANCE ARTS-TRADITIONAL THEATRE APPRECIATION The definition of performance arts is rather broad and unlimited. For a long time, the modern western drama has been taken as mainstream, and relatively neglected Taiwanese tradition theatre/drama, however, both are essential to modern performance arts. This course focuses on traditional Taiwanese theatre, and adopts pictures, films, scripts and fieldworks as teaching materials for leading students to appreciate the beauty of traditional theatre.

    Arts Appreciation and Creation (M Group) DEVELOPING NONVERBAL EXPRESSION THROUGH DANCING ARTS Dance is human instinct and exists in life all the time. This course aims to lead students to regain the power of dancing that everyone has and to help them re-enjoy the fun of dancing and experience life itself. Accordingly, they can faithfully express the reality felt, conveying messages through nonverbal mindbody, and better understand themselves. Moreover, through the appreciation of contemporary dance art, humanistic and aesthetic qualities can be enhanced. Ultimately, through collective creation, they can increase mutual communication and problem-solving skills and stimulate creativity.

    DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND FUTURES DESIGN THEORY AND PRACTICE OF CONTENT CURATION With curatorial practice as the main axis, the first part introduces the history of contemporary curatorial development and content design in different fields, including planning, discourse writing, narrative, visual communication, display material, and space design. In the second part, students are guided by task-based learning to plan and produce exhibitions for local design and social design, as well as visit cultural institutions and exhibitions to establish students' curatorial theory and practice.

    Practical Orientation

    Arts Appreciation and Creation (M Group) MUSIC MASTER WORKS APPRECIATION AND INTERPRETATION This course combines music appreciation with local sound exploration to cultivate students sensitivity to both music and sound. It introduces the fundamental elements of music and, through the study of world masterpieces, guides students in active listening, analysis, and understanding. The concept of soundscape is then introduced, encouraging students to observe everyday sound environments. Through recording and digital editing, students will practice sound collection and creative re-composition. The course concludes with a group project in which students integrate their soundscape outcomes
    Practical Orientation Arts Appreciation and Creation (M Group) THE ART OF PIANO This course will introduce the beauty of piano music, various styles including classical, jazz and popular will be included. After film discussions,students will be able to conclude what becomes a pianist.
    Practical Orientation Arts Appreciation and Creation (M Group) EXPLORING DANCE AS NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION THROUGH ENVIRONMENTS Dance is ubiquitous. Everyone has dance genes. But with the development of dance art and its academic status, people gradually forget that it is human instinct. This course will lead students to re-feel, explore and develop various possibilities within the bodymind, to regain the original intention and fun of enjoying dance. By interacting with people and things around and exploring environmental spaces, it will help them develop creativity. The course is project-oriented service learning. It aims to practice the understanding of life and care of society through group creation and performance.

    Practical Orientation

    DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND FUTURES DESIGN EXHIBITION DESIGN PRACTICE This course is designed to develop students' practical skills in exhibition design and practice, including display design concepts, exhibition experience narrative planning, display space simulation, display material characteristics and usage, and related practical content teaching.
