    【Asian Governance Experience】

    Interdisciplinary Micro-Program

    【Mission】

    The interdisciplinary Asian governance experience primarily guides students to understand various issues and governance experiences of East Asian societies and Taiwan. It aims to cultivate students' interdisciplinary and cross-cultural knowledge, understanding, and issue management skills. This program enhances students' integration abilities across different fields, nurtures STEAM talent, and establishes a foundation for holistic education.

    【Course Planning】

    Students must complete at least one course in each of the three domains—“Foundational Interdisciplinary Studies,” “Thematic Issues,” and “Practical Orientation”—within the chosen micro-course program, for a total of at least four courses. Additionally, they must achieve passing grades in these courses to qualify for the issuance of the program certification.

    Foundational Interdisciplinary Studies

    Global Outlook (T Group) EAST ASIA AND WORLD AFFAIRS The rapid development of science and technology brings countries in the world closer to each other, but also renders international affairs more complex. As such, changes in international affairs inevitably have an impact on Taiwan, making Taiwan impossible to exclude itself from the international society. The main purpose of the course is to encourage students to look into various contemporary international issues and to grasp their backgrounds and dynamics, so as to explore Taiwan’s self-positioning and goals of development in the complex global affairs and regional relations.

    Foundational Interdisciplinary Studies

    Futures Studies (R Group) FUTURES STUDIES IN SOCIETY- CITY FUTURES The "future" is not a destiny, nor is it imaginary, but rather a possibility that comes from observing phenomena, analyzing trends, and predicting choices. This course explores the modernity of urban development and the issues encountered under globalization, as well as possible creative strategies for action.

    Department of Architecture INTRODUCTION TO URBAN PLANNING Urban Planning and urban design are the intelligence that young architects have to know when they face more complicate spatial design. among then, urban planning is a basic knowledge behind urban design. It include:(universal) history and mind changing about urban planning, approaches and way of urban planning, (in Taiwan) a critical of urban planning, related law, reading of urban planning drawing, etc. In this semester, we will know knowledges what young architects have to know by reading some actual case.

    Thematic Issues

    Philosophy and Religion (V Group) TAIWANESE RELIGIONS Taiwan's religious diversity is well known to the world. According to a report by the US Survey Center, Taiwan's religious diversity index ranks second in the world, after Singapore. First of all, this course teaches students to understand the development of different religions in Taiwan, and helps students understand religious differences. Secondly, it introduces the research results of religious scholars, and uses the academic database to cultivate students' research ability. Finally, teach students to make final reports and experience the charm of Taiwanese religion.

    Thematic Issues

    Department of Diplomacy and International Relations POLITICAL SYSTEM OF TAIWAN The main purpose of the course is to introduce Taiwan's political system. It starts with explaining the process of formulating the constitution of the Republic of China, then introduces Taiwan's administrative, legislative and electoral systems in sequence. It also introduces Taiwan's democratization process and major political parties, and finally touches on the impact of Taiwan's internal politics on cross-Strait relations, students are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the content and impact of Taiwan’s political system.

    Thematic Issues

    Futures Studies (R Group) FUTURES STUDIES IN ECONOMICS: LONGEVITY AND AGING SOCIETY The purpose of this course is to develop students' abilities in creating economic alternatives, and to assist them in rethinking and then shaping the future. Diverse issues regarding the global future such as new thinking of longevity, Gerontonomics will be discussed in this course.

    Practical Orientation

    Civil Society and Participation (S Group) SOCIAL INNOVATION Social innovation is a collaborative approach by public-private partnerships to address wicked issues in contemporary civil society. It seeks to find innovative solutions to these complex and challenging problems. The ideals of social innovation are often delivered through social enterprise. This course introduces the fundamental concepts of social innovation and its relevance to CSR, USR, SDGs, and ESG. In the meantime, we discuss relevant issues between social enterprises and the public sector. In addition, Taiwan and other countries are discussed as examples of social innovation.

    Practical Orientation

    Department of Education and Futures Design SHORT DURATION INTERNSHIPS ABROAD This course aims to develop students' international perspective and their ability to explore and solve real-life problems through short-term overseas internships. The program consists of international mobile seminars, social design, issue planning, and curatorial practice, and the learning outcomes will be presented in public media for public dialogue.
