Q1: What is the General Education Interdisciplinary Micro-Program?
A1: The General Education Interdisciplinary Micro-Program centers on specific themes, integrating courses from different disciplines, and combining social responsibility, practical work, and self-directed learning. This program aims to inspire students' interdisciplinary thinking, enabling them to apply knowledge to real-world situations while cultivating STEAM talents and promoting holistic education.
Q2: Can I apply for the General Education Interdisciplinary Micro-Program?
A2: As long as you are an undergraduate student at our university and have an interest in the relevant fields, you can apply for the program!
Q3: How do I apply for the General Education Interdisciplinary Micro-Program?
A3: After the start of each semester and before the add/drop deadline, fill out the "Tamkang University General Education Interdisciplinary Micro-Program Application Form" and submit it to the Office of General Education and Core Curriculum Center.
Q4: How can I obtain certification for the micro-program?
A4: You need to complete at least one course in each of the three areas of the selected micro-program: "Basic Interdisciplinary," "Thematic Issues," and "Practical Orientation," totaling at least four courses, and pass all of them. Fill out the "Tamkang University General Education Interdisciplinary Micro-Program Credit Certification Application Form," attach the original transcript, and submit the certification application to the Office of General Education and Core Curriculum Center. Once the certification review is approved, you will receive the "Tamkang University General Education Interdisciplinary Micro-Program Certificate." If you have already taken relevant courses before applying for this micro-program, those courses can also be included in the credit review.
Q5: Can I apply for an extension if I cannot complete the micro-program courses on time?
A5: Unfortunately, students cannot use the completion of this program as a reason to apply for an extension of their studies.
Q6: How can I find out about the micro-program course content?
A6: Each thematic micro-program offers six to eight courses. You can refer to the website of the General Education and Core Curriculum Center. If there are any adjustments to the course titles and credits of each micro-program, please refer to the course list announced by the General Education and Core Curriculum Center.
Q7: What themes are available in the General Education Interdisciplinary Micro-Program?
A7: Our micro-program themes include Happy Life, Gender Issues, Technology and Society, Net Zero and Sustainable Development, Future of Cities, Asian Governance Experience, Local Revitalization and Regional Governance, Local Narratives and Artistic Performance, Promoting Health in Aging, and Experiencing History.
Q8: How many micro-programs can I apply for at once?
A8: You can only apply for one micro-program at a time! You need to complete and obtain certification for one micro-program before you can apply for another.
