    Interdisciplinary Micro-Program

    【Mission】

    The "Geriatric Health Promotion Micro-Course" integrates general education and departmental courses through thematic issues, addressing social changes and knowledge development. It combines courses on social responsibility, practical application, and self-directed learning to design various thematic micro-courses. This approach aims to enhance students' interdisciplinary integration abilities, nurture STEAM talent, and lay the foundation for holistic education.

    【Course Planning】

    Students must complete at least one course in each of the three domains—"Foundational Interdisciplinary Studies," "Thematic Issues," and "Practical Orientation"—within their chosen micro-course program, for a total of at least four courses. Additionally, they must achieve passing grades in these courses to qualify for the issuance of the program certificate.

    Center for General Education and Core Curriculum HEALTH PROMOTION AND PRACTICE FOR THE ELDERLY This course aims to provide foundational knowledge and skills required to perform fitness activity coaching for older adults. Students will also learn key concepts from gerontology, motor skill learning, and physical exercise, that can be used to facilitate effective fitness activity coaching.

    Foundational Interdisciplinary Studies DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND INFORMATION ENGINEERING INTRODUCTION TO MACHINE LEARNING Deep learning is a method in artificial intelligence (AI) that instructs computers to process data in ways inspired by the human brain. Deep learning models can recognize complex patterns in images, text, sounds, and other data to generate more accurate insights and predictions. You can use deep learning methods to automate tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as describing images or transcribing sound files into text. Artificial intelligence (AI) attempts to train computers to think and learn like humans.

    Social Analysis (W Group) POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY The movement of Positive Psychology has offered the discipline of psychology multiple ways of thinking and strategies. This course will organize learning topics derived from theory, research, and practice. The content includes well-being, cultivation of positive emotions, practices for savoring strategies within the ecological contexts of family, school, workplace, and socio-culture to enhance students' fulfillment of their learning goals through participation in campus learning activities and in turn to connect them to the society.

    Futures Studies (R Group) FUTURES STUDIES IN ECONOMICS: LONGEVITY AND AGING SOCIETY The purpose of this course is to devlop students' abilities in creating economic alternatives, and to assist them in rethinking and then shaping the future. Diverse issues regarding the global future such as the basic theory of Futurology, New Longevity and Gerontonomics, will be discussed in this course.

    Arts Appreciation and Creation (M Group)

    THE INTRODUCTION OF TAIWANESE THEATER In this module, Taiwanese theatre related researchers and practitioners will be invited to give an overall understanding of various aspects of Taiwanese theatre, from traditional theatre in Qing dynasty to contemporary theatre, from Xingju in the postwar era to improvisational theatre. In addition, this module also emphasizes on connecting students with local theatre groups, which are based on Tamsui area, in order to help students learn arts outside the university.
    Thematic Issues Futures Studies (R Group) FUTURES STUDIES IN SOCIETY This course focuses on the era of globalization context to help students understand their situations (such as educational, working, marriage, private life etc.)Through the class, students will have future conscious and know how to prepare well and earlier to create their future.

    Arts Appreciation and Creation (M Group) INTRODUCTION TO MUSIC AND DIGITAL APPLICATIONS Music is a universal language. Beyond simply "listening" to understand music, it is essential to have foundational knowledge of music theory. This course focuses on music by exploring its historical development and stylistic evolution horizontally, and understanding the essence and structure of music. It also introduces the types of instruments, musical forms, and biographies of musicians vertically. Ultimately, it aims to use rational knowledge to experience the emotional beauty of music through great classical works. The course also integrates the operation and application of digital music software and hardware, enabling students to understand the concepts of digital music production, learn basic digital music composition, familiarize themselves with sound libraries and FX effects, and inspire their digital music creation abilities.

    Practical Orientation

    Center for General Education and Core Curriculum PRACTICUM IN ELDERLY SERVICES The course is designed to cultivate professionals in elderly fitness services, and plan practicum activities for elderly services. It aims to assist students realize fitness environments for the elderly by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience to bridge the gap between learning and application. Therefore, this course includes lectures, field trips, and practical service practicums. Students are required to have prior knowledge and skills in fitness activities and guiding principles for the elderly. In the first half of the course, students receive pre-trip training and essentials of elderly fitness. Then students are led into the Greater Tamsui community to understand the local fitness ecology and needs. Additionally, students will participate in the senior fitness classes, engaging in hands-on practicums to develop practical skills in elderly physical activities, thereby fulfilling the social responsibility of the university.

    Arts Appreciation and Creation (M Group)

    PERFORMING ARTS AND PRATICE 'Performing Arts' is an umbrella term, which contains wide definitions. This module could be divided into two sections: Euro-American contemporary theatre and Asian theatre. Images, videos, play texts and theatrical exercises will be applied as materials to introduce intercultural performing arts to the students. In addition to introducing various performing forms, the students will also be asked to conduct a theatre piece in order to further understand the making of theatrical works.
    Practical Orientation Center for General Education and Core Curriculum MINORITY AND SOCIAL WELFARE Minority and social welfare provides the theories of minority groups, social welfare and non-profit organizations(NPO). Students will visit the volunteer and NPOs after the middle examination.
