    Interdisciplinary Micro-Program

    【Mission】

    History is an interdisciplinary field, and its knowledge and skills constitute soft power that can be applied across various industries. Having a foundation in history, coupled with professional skills, significantly enhances one's future career development. To embed history as a core competency for students, this micro-course adopts the concept of immersive sensory experiences, guiding students to walk into history and experience it firsthand. Through engaging and lively courses, students will enjoy the artistic beauty and critical thinking that history brings, including the integration of information from diverse perspectives, future thinking through trend observation, and a broad international outlook. This approach ensures that students acquire transferable skills right within the classroom.

    【Course Planning】

    Students must complete at least one course in each of the three domains—"Foundational Interdisciplinary Studies," "Thematic Issues," and "Practical Orientation"—within their chosen micro-course program, for a total of at least four courses. Additionally, they must achieve passing grades in these courses to qualify for the issuance of the program certificate.

    Department of History CULTURAL TOURISM AND SOCIOECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN TAIWAN The current course introduces a collection of related Taiwan's cultural tourism and socioeconomic development in taiwan. Let schoolmate understand that Taiwan cultural tourism and socioeconomic development is important, then continues to extend has the interest part.

    Department of Architecture HISTORY OF TAIWAN ARCHITECTURE The Course considers the composition and development of Taiwanese architecture as the subject, putting in a broadened context of oriental and world architectural history, in order to make students understand the meaning of ‘tradition’ and ‘modernization’ under the development of Taiwanese architecture.

    History and Culture (P Group) INTRODUCTION TO SOUTHEAST ASIA This course combines literature, videos, and breaking topics to lead students into/close to the daily life of contemporary Southeast Asia, grasp the rich and diverse historical and cultural characteristics of Southeast Asian countries, to gain in-depth knowledge and immersed experiences. This course will also introduce various social connections and transnational activities between Taiwan and Southeast Asia, helping student to cultivate international vision and global mobility.

    History and Culture (P Group) LEARNING HISTORY BY WALKING AND FIELD RESEARCH Historical and Fieldwork Practices, Historical Space Preservation and Reuse, Historical Environment and Space Walkthroughs, Family and Personal Relationships, Urban and Traditional Settlement Development.

    History and Culture (P Group) LEARNING HISTORY THROUGH NOVEL Before the internet, computer, smart phone invented, reading novels was the most important entertainment in the traditional China. Printing technology was developed as Industrial Revolution, bunch of press rise, a large number of books and novels published every year. Novels were cheap, easy to buy, and various themes, not only about love, but also about history, myth, judge, daily life, even gender. Traditional Chinese novel is very interesting, due to base on its society and culture, reflect a lot of historical detail. Maybe we can not read because of its words or sentences are not we used to, this course will lead students read easily, experience these fantastic stories, and learn history through these novels.

    History and Culture (P Group) LEARNING HISTORY THROUGH ART As an important subject of liberal arts, history plays a crucial role in cultivating students’ minds and improving their skills such as humanistic thinking and aesthetic ability. This course provides guidance for students to learn and appreciate various kinds of art and images, including antiquities, paintings, sculptures, pamphlets, posters, and newspaper in history. Students would understand the historical meaning and have keener perception of the ideas and values behind these art and items in visual culture.

    Practical Orientation

    College of Liberal Arts CULTURAL HERITAGE REVITALIZATION AND DIGITAL CURATION This course introduces important concepts and case studies related to the preservation and innovative activation of cultural heritage assets. It also introduces a broader understanding of practical curatorial skills, cultivating students' ability to apply historical knowledge to interdisciplinary fields such as digital humanities, cultural observation, social design, and the reuse of historical artifacts. Through training in traditional/digital curation, it enhances students' abilities in comprehensive applications.

    Practical Orientation

    College of Liberal Arts MUSEMU AND PUBLIC HISTORY This course aims to cultivate students' abilities in observation, analysis, and critical thinking by delving into the role of museums and their evolution in society, and guiding students to explore the role of museums in responding to public issues of concern.
